MALT — Movies at the Little Theatre — is a community film club in Deloraine, Tasmania. We screen carefully chosen films at the Little Theatre, with the bar open before and after so there's space to talk about what you've just watched.

When and where do screenings happen?
At the Little Theatre in Deloraine. Doors and the bar open from 6:30pm, film trivia at 7pm, then we roll the film from 7:30pm. Food and drinks stay open for 30 minutes after the screening for anyone who wants to hang around and chat about the film.
What's the 2026 season?
We launch on 12 June 2026 with Her (Spike Jonze, 2013). All screenings run bimonthly through the year with doors at 6:30pm, film trivia at 7pm, screening at 7:30pm — full programme on the homepage.
What sort of films do you show?
Thoughtfully chosen, wide-ranging films: drama, comedy, the occasional left-fielder. We aim to signpost genre and style clearly so you know what you're walking into. We're not really into horror but never say never!
How does membership work?
The 2026 pilot season runs July to December — $30 for the lot. If cost is a barrier, get in touch with the committee and we'll work something out.
Can I come to a single screening without joining?
Unfortunately not — MaLT is members-only. It is a condition of our film licensing arrangements that we can only screen to members of our club. If you're not sure about committing to a full year, our pro-rata three-month membership is the lowest-commitment way in.
Is it suitable for kids?
No, our film selection and event timing are targeted towards adults.
Will there be food and drink?
Yes. We run a candy bar with popcorn, choc tops and other snacks, plus a light bar. Both stay open for 30 minutes after the film for those who want to hang around and talk about what they've just watched.
